  • ClubGRANTS Guidelines and Funding Categories

Applicants should read the new Guidelines to determine whether they are eligible for Club GRANTS funding. There are three funding categories under the ClubGRANTS Scheme:

  • Category 1 expenditure on specific community welfare and social services, community development, community health services and employment assistance activities; and
  • Category 2 expenditure on other community development and support services (eg traditional areas of club expenditure, such as support for sport and recreation groups).
  • Category 3 expenditure represents 0.4% of a club’s gaming machine profits over $1 million which is placed in a state wide pool to support large scale sport, health and community infrastructure.

This is an application for Category 1 funding in the Willoughby area.  It will be submitted to Willoughby City Council, which receives all ClubGRANTS applications on behalf of the Willoughby Area ClubGRANT Committee.  The Committee comprises of representatives from the three clubs in the Willoughby area (the Chatswood RSL, the Gordon Social and Recreation Club and Club Willoughby), a representative from the Community Services sector, a representative from the NSW Dept. of Health and Community Services and Council staff. 

The Local Area Committee provides recommendations about the distribution of ClubGRANTS funds within the Willoughby area.  The final decision is made and endorsed by the individual Boards of the Clubs.

Priority for the distribution of ClubGRANTS funds in the Willoughby area is generally given to projects that

v     Promote access and equity

v     Assist people identified as being at significant disadvantage.

v     Support young people, particularly with accommodation, counselling, and support services for disadvantaged youth

v     Provide respite care services/carer support, for children, people with a disability & the aged.

v     Focus on  children with special needs.

 v    Generate in-home support services for frail aged & people with a disability.

 v    Promote healthy lifestyles.

 v    Promote community safety and prevent crime (such as domestic violence).

 v    Generate employment and training opportunities for disadvantaged people.

 v    Promote cultural awareness, social inclusion and community development.

 v    Assist people/families address addictive behaviours (e.g. addiction to gambling/alcohol & other drugs).

v     Promote & support volunteers and volunteering.

v     Provide access to health services (particularly mental health services).

v    Support families (particularly those that offer counselling & family support).

v     Support our Indigenous population.

 * The term “disadvantaged” when used in the context of determining priority funding, means “any individual or group who are less able to achieve the quality of life normally expected by the general populous because of physical, cultural, social, or economic circumstances”.

Projects MUST have a very strong local focus on the Willoughby area and applications MUST clearly demonstrate how the project will impact positively on the local community.
