CATEGORY 2 - ARTS & CULTURAL GRANTS PROGRAM - APPLICATION

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE ARTS & CULTURAL SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM

The Arts and Cultural Grants are part of a range of programs, activities and facilities through which Willoughby City Council supports the artistic development and cultural vitality of its diverse community. Council recognises that the arts play a key role in building community spirit and a sense of belonging by exploring, expressing, reflecting, challenging and celebrating who we are.

The maximum that will be awarded is $3,000 excl GST.

AIMS OF THE ARTS AND CULTURAL GRANTS

  • To enhance opportunities for communities in Willoughby to access, participate in and manage their arts and cultural activities
  • To support and strengthen the sense of identity and social cohesion of local communities
  • To encourage expressions of cultural diversity
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the development of local creative skills and cultural pursuits.
  • To encourage partnerships between community groups and artists
  • To encourage the implementation and development of innovative arts programs and projects.
  • To promote Willoughby LGA as a vibrant, creative and artistically diverse community.

The final outcome of the grant must be shown/staged etc in Willoughby within the 12 month period from when the grant is awarded. Funding must be towards a specific project such as:

  • Creating and implementing an exhibition, marketing a project and holding a performance installation.
  • Conducting workshops, providing mentorship opportunities or seeding funds for a project etc.
  • A collaborative approach or joint project between an artist and a community or cultural group.
  • Activation of public spaces through temporary art works and installations
  • Activate underutilised city streets and public spaces to create places for creative and social activities
  • Supports creative-based projects that raise awareness regarding an issue of importance in the community.
